It is with heavy hearts, we announce that “Dale” passed away on June 3, 2019 in St. Boniface Hospital, at the age of 62 years.

 

Dale is survived by his wife Delma of 41 years; daughters Amanda and Jennifer; grandson Lance; father Michael; siblings Evelyn (Tim), Mark (Dee), Wendy (Calvin); brothers and sisters-in-law Gil (Linda), Lawrence, Linda (Brian), Susan, Randall (Deena), Judy (Stu) and Robert (Anna), as well as many nieces and nephews.

 

He is predeceased by his mother Iris; sister Karen; parents-in-law Laura and Gil; niece Susie;  as well as brothers-in-law Grant and Len.

 

Dale worked at AFGD glass for 31 years performing many duties within the company. Dale just became a Life Member of IUPAT Local 739, with 37 years in the union. Dale was a tall man with a large heart. He was respected by all that knew him. Dale was soft spoken and a man of few words but when he did say something it was either funny or on point. He had a great sense of humor and was a man of great knowledge. He would have been the man to call if you were on a game show and needed a strange fact.

 

Dale was the happiest when he had his family around; be it at family gathering, holidays or birthdays.  He looked forward each week to Friday night dinners, with both his daughters and grandson. Dale had a special bond with all the Frasers & Soloniuks. Dale spent holidays with Gil and Linda and had a special bond with them. Gil will always be Dale’s best Bud. 

 

Dale also had a love of glass and mirrors, which often came home with him. Many friends and family used to comment about the glass tables that he made for his wife Delma, and the glass railings around the deck. Dale was a handy man that could fix just about anything from washing machines and cars, to building his daughters decks.

 

Dale loved Sci-Fi TV shows and movies. He would talk to Mark and Wendy about Doctor Who and Star Trek for hours. This love was only passed on to one daughter and grandson.

 

Dale taught his daughters many things. One thing that he taught them was how to lose at games. Dale did not believe in letting you win, you had to earn it and you played to win. Cards and board games were always being played as a family. Lance would get so happy when he could beat his Grandpa at rummy or rock’em sock’em robots.

 

Dale was married to the love of his life for almost 42 years. They were truly best friends. Summer family vacations were spent at West Hawk Lake camping. Dale would bug Delma about packing everything but the kitchen sink.  He had to build a storage box to go on top of the car so they could bring everything.

 

The family would like to thank the staff of St. Boniface Hospital Cardiac department, for all of the great care for Dale over the years. If you so wish, donations in Dale’s memory to The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba are greatly appreciated.

Dale was a quiet man that did not like too much attention on him.  He used to sit back and watch what was going on with a smile on his face. In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place and we will respect his wishes in having no formal service take place.
