STRATTON, Vanessa - Obituary Photo-gigapixel-low_res-scale-2_00x.jpg

VANESSA JOY STRATTON

Suddenly, with loved ones by her side.

It is with great sadness that the family of Vanessa Joy Stratton announce her passing on December 11, 2022 at St Boniface Hospital, Winnipeg Manitoba.

Vanessa was born in Brookfield Newfoundland on a cold and stormy night March 8, 1970 to proud parents Alexander and Bertha Stratton.

During her teen years Vanessa was proud to serve with the Army Cadets, where she made many friends. Vanessa was a natural leader and an excellent sharpshooter, winning many competitions.

Later on, she moved to Thompson Manitoba, where she raised her two beautiful daughters, Krista and Kaitlyn.

Vanessa met the love of her life, William, whom she later married, gaining his two wonderful sons David and Michael.

During their 26 years spent together, they would often be out travelling on their motorcycle. They enjoyed going to movies and many concerts or sporting events.

Vanessa always loved to dance and enjoyed her life to the fullest as anyone who danced with her could attest.

Vanessa was always the perfect host at her home either hosting birthday celebrations, holidays, or grey cup parties.

Vanessa was a kind and loving gentle soul. She always made time for family and strangers before herself. Sometimes in harms way if the situation warranted it. Never one to turn away from those in need.

Vanessa leaves behind a lasting legacy of love.

Vanessa is survived by her loving husband of 22 years William; daughter Krista (Callum Mckendry); granddaughter Rowyn Joy; grandson Eòghann William; daughter Kaitlyn (Natasha); step son David Asplund (Brittany); granddaughters, Alexa Rose and Addison Rae;  stepson Michael Asplund (Karla); siblings, Kathy (Gene Kean), Christine (Richard Gregoire), Garry (Maryann), Cindi (Kirk Regular), and  Nancy (David Mcbride) as well as many nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by her father, Alexander Stratton.

Cremation has taken place, and a celebration of life will be held at a later date as per her request.

In lieu of flowers, if friends and family so desire, donations can be made to the St Boniface Bergen Cardiac Care Clinic.

Special thanks to the Cardiac Care unit Pacemaker Clinic, and all the wonderful staff at the St Boniface Hospital, that made Vanessa’s final days peaceful & comfortable.
