ELIZABETH FLORENCE THOMPSON

With heavy hearts and deep sadness, we announce the passing of Elizabeth Florence Thompson.

She passed away peacefully at the age of 92 on November 15, 2023.

Betty was predeceased by her loving husband Tommy and son Darryl. The memory of her will be forever cherished by her son Stuart (Rebecca) and daughter Mari-Lynn (Drew).

Betty, known as Nanny to her grandchildren and great grandchildren, adored her family with all her heart. Blessed with 8 grandchildren, Colleen (Ray), Theresa (Murray), Melissa (Jason), Kelly (Erin), Rene, Stefan (Jennifer), Kevin and Raymond, she was always a big part of their lives and dedicated every ounce of herself to them.

She cherished and loved her 15 great-grandchildren and enjoyed every moment she could spend with them. Cassidy, Thomas, Aubrey, Mason, Peyton, Alex, Ava, Raelynn, Mya, Morgan, Georgia, Nixon, Ivy, Mavrick and Liam. She was the most amazing and loving great-grandmother.

Betty was born May 16, 1931 to Gunnar and Hazel Sigurdson of Riverton, Manitoba. She spent most of her life living in Winnipeg and was a stay-at-home mother. She enjoyed spending time with her family and listening to country music. She spent many weekends in Riverton visiting family and friends and introducing country life to her children and grandchildren. Betty also loved her flower gardens, sewing, Christmas decorating and baking.  Her home was amazing at Christmas time and brought her family together for many years to enjoy the love and spectacular decorations during the holiday season. Her spicy personality and zest for life will be sadly missed by all those who loved and knew her.

The family would like to thank the staff at Concordia Place for their excellent care and support.

There will be a small celebration of life for the immediate family.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in the memory of Betty to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba.
