It is with great sadness that the family of Darwin Allan Thompson announces his passing which occurred on Tuesday, October 5, 2021.

 

He was a loving son, husband, father, stepfather, uncle, grandfather, and friend. He was predeceased by his parents George (2004), Yvonne (2000) and his brother Wayne (1989). He is survived by his partner Sherry, children Monique, Nicole, Ashley, and Carley (Kris), his sister Sandy (Randy), his brother-in-law Rory (Cindy), and father-in-law Frank. He is also survived by his grandchildren Carter, Rosaley, Kallie, and Kylo. Dar leaves his family and friends with decades of fond memories to be cherished. 

 

Dar worked for 20 years at the University of Manitoba as an electrical designer. Dar loved his job and the close friendships he developed during his time at the University.

 

Dar grew up playing competitive baseball. He loved the sport and all the social atmospheres that came with it. His love for baseball met its match when Dar fell in love with the game of golf. He joined a Men's league and Wednesday night golf quickly became Dar’s favourite day of the week.

 

Being a grandpa was a highlight of Dar’s life and he was incredible at it. He could always be found playing and getting into mischief with his grandchildren. Dar was a charismatic person who was deeply committed to his family and friends.

 

Dar will always be remembered for his love for his family, his infectious smile and his warm heart. He would give you the shirt off his back if he could.

 

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to pancreatic cancer research at CancerCare Manitoba.

 

Due to Covid restrictions, a private celebration of Dar’s life will be held at a later date.
