RICHARD (RICK) WESTLEY

May 20, 1948 – February 28, 2021

It is with deep sadness to announce the sudden but peaceful passing of such a beloved man. Left to mourn Rick’s passing are his loving wife of 48 years Patty, daughter Sabrina (Kyle), his 2 loving grandsons Kingston and Rocklen and 3 beautiful sisters Linda, Diane and Val.

Anybody who knew Rick, knew how amazing of a man he was. He was the type of guy everybody loved and his laugh could be heard from across the room. He was always the life of the party, and lived that life to its fullest.

Rick had a successful career in Optical Sales for well over 30 years. Among many other jobs, he was an owner/operator of a tow truck company, real estate agent, and painter. Rick was fortunate enough to have retired early back in 2007 when the real fun began. He loved to travel and was able to spend his winters in Mexico where him and Patty had a condo that overlooked the ocean. It was his happy place and he spent many years enjoying the simple lifestyle that Mazatlan had to offer.

His passion for live music led him to know where all the good bands were playing and there you would be sure to find him sitting in the front row with a cold one (or two). He knew everyone walking down the main street, on the beach and always took the time to chat with a buddy. He will be sadly missed by both the locals and expats in Mazatlan as he had many friends that he spent his time with there. The fun didn’t stop in Mexico as Rick got to spend his summers at Toniata Beach. He had been camping at Toniata since his twenties and was very proud to have built a cabin there twenty plus years ago. All you had to do was follow his laugh to find where the party was down the hill.

He loved telling jokes, spending his time making people laugh, playing cards and hitting up the casino for some VLT’s. Nobody ever poured a glass of wine like Rick did. He was such a caring husband, the best dad, and funniest Grandpa. Both Kingston and Rocklen will forever miss their BOBO.  He was truly one of a kind.

Dad, we will always remember your sweet soul, that special laugh, and the tight squeezes that you always gave us. Your positive energy and good vibes made this world a better place.

Live, Laugh and Love; the words you lived by and now life will never be the same without you. You will forever remain in our hearts.

“He has achieved success who has lived well, laughed often, and loved much.”

Hasta manana, until we meet again. Sending you peace and so much love.
